Information About Gophers:
Pocket gophers take their name from fur-lined cheek pouches that they use for
carrying food and nesting materials. Pocket gophers are widespread throughout
much of the South, Midwest and Western United States. They are born diggers and
create elaborate tunnel systems. Like moles Pocket gophers have powerful
forequarters with large front paws. Oftentimes mistaken for chipmunks or
woodchucks Pocket gophers live in a burrow system that can exceed 2,500 square
feet. Their fine fur allows them to move easily through any type of soil. They
have a keen sense of smell and hearing which they use to locate food and avoid
predators. They have small eyes and sensitive facial whiskers to assist their
movements in the dark. Depending on species Pocket gophers vary in length from 7
to 12 inches.
Gopher Repellers:Our Gopher Repellers are the most humane and environmental friendly way of keeping gardens and lawns free of destructive gophers, moles and voles. Gophers have a very acute sense of hearing and sensitivity to ground vibration. The technology in our repellers exploits this sensitivity to produce a penetrating sonic sound that irritates gophers, moles, voles and burrowing rodents which may utilize tunnels dug by moles. We can get rid of your gopher problem without dangerous traps or poison. Our products are safe for use around pets and children.
Do gophers hibernate?
Pocket gophers do not hibernate and are active year round. They are more
active in the spring and fall than they are during the heat of summer. Females
usually produce one or two litters per year with the average litter size being 6
pups. Pocket gophers have a life span of 4 to 6 years.
